Sommers General Manager Chris McGregor has introduced Pierre Gallant as Atlantic Region Branch Manager in Dieppe, New Brunswick, and Fred Lawrence as Regional Sales Representative for Southwestern Ontario.

Gallant brings his extensive experience in generator sales and service to Sommers, including hands-on knowledge of the many Lister-Petter products featured in the Sommers line-up. Based in the Dieppe area since 1994, Gallant has travelled throughout the Maritimes to support prime power and standby systems for customers. “My focus for the next little while will be getting to know the rural communities we serve. These municipalities have shown a growing need and interest in emergency planning and in offering a better quality of life for their constituents. Sommers has been a real leader in helping local government in other parts of the country, so I’ll be working with our contractors and public works planners to put that experience to work here.”
Gallant says that he was well aware of Sommers’ reputation for customer service before joining the company. His expectations were confirmed through his recent training sessions at the Sommers head office. “The service mentality is well founded at Sommers. You see it in everything they do at the head office – it’s central to the company culture.”
Gallant has wasted no time putting his imprint on Sommers sales in the Atlantic region. His first orders were recently delivered, providing two 250 kW systems to the Magdalen Islands.

Fred Lawrence Supports Southwestern Ontario
Fred Lawrence has seen every side of Sommers through his 30 years as an electrical professional in Southwestern Ontario. As the owner and partner of several electrical contracting businesses in Goderich and Sarnia, and as a former Ontario Hydro Inspector, Lawrence has worked closely with Sommers staff and management through three generations.
From his current base in the town of Blenheim, Lawrence will be serving farm, residential and industrial customers “between the lakes” from London to Windsor. As a contractor, Lawrence says he has seen a shift in the needs of farmers in this highly agricultural area. While many of the PTO-driven generators that he sold years ago are still operating, new farming technology now demands generators with more advanced controls to deliver cleaner, consistent power. Lawrence has also noted growing interest in standby generators system from rural homeowners. “People in small towns enjoy the same consumer technologies that big city people take for granted,” he says. “But with an aging utility grid, the reliability of our power lines can be a little suspect out here – especially with the ice storms that go with our mild climate!”
Chris McGregor welcomed these appointments as an important step in Sommers’ plans for continued growth. “We’re known for custom building power solutions to fit the individual customer. Fred and Pierre will help us provide more of that local insight that lets us be proactive in delivering the products and services our customers need.”
