VLP is Still “Getting Dirty” to Serve SENNEBOGEN Customers in Central & Southern Arkansas

Kansas City, MO – Staff from The Victor L. Phillips Co. (VLP) recently traveled to the SENNEBOGEN training center near Charlotte, NC, to prepare for their company’s expanded service territory in central and south Arkansas.

Now in its second century of service to the heavy equipment industry, VLP remains proud of its founder’s willingness to “get his hands dirty” to work with customers. Bill Schoenfelder, President of The Victor L. Phillips Co., said the recent training sessions at SENNEBOGEN are just part of that tradition.

“We pride ourselves on excellent customer service,” said Schoenfelder. “The SENNEBOGEN facility offers a very hands-on approach to service training, which is exactly what we look for when we are looking to partner with a manufacturer.”

Constantino Lannes, President of SENNEBOGEN LLC, complimented VLP for its long-standing service ethic. “SENNEBOGEN has known VLP for a long time. We have the basis for a strong working relationship, and they are the right choice for our customers.”

“One customer at a time”
VLP has been representing SENNEBOGEN material handlers in Kansas and western Missouri since January of 2012, including several counties in northern Arkansas. With this new agreement, VLP now also serves the center and south of the state, excluding the Fort Smith area and the eastern counties adjacent to Memphis, Tennessee. With locations in Kansas City, Joplin, Springfield, Wichita, Topeka and Garden City, the firm is now planning to expand a service office in Little Rock specifically to provide complete sales and support to central and southern Arkansas. “We are bringing our complete capabilities to sell, repair, service and rent multiple lines,” Schoenfelder reported.

“As a diversified distributor of heavy equipment from top brands,” said Schoenfelder, “VLP’s philosophy is to become a ‘specialist’ in the business of one customer at a time. Whether the customer’s business is in scrap processing, barge unloading, logging, earthmoving or other material handling applications, we know they need to be producing product daily to be successful; our product support is critical to keep them operating.” In keeping with that approach, VLP aims to provide a one-stop source for equipment and service, including support for most equipment makes and models in the customer’s fleet.

To keep current on the specialized equipment needs of varied customers, VLP invests deeply in people and training. According to Schoenfelder, “It’s fair to say we invest monthly in training, striving to stay current with the latest technology, as well as the newest products and features our manufacturers are bringing to the market place.”

SENNEBOGEN school
Schoenfelder had several of his technicians go to school at the SENNEBOGEN LLC headquarters in Stanley, (near Charlotte) NC, along with VLP’s resident specialist in material handling applications, Jeff Biles. The recently expanded SENNEBOGEN facility now provides 100,000 sq. ft., of roofed space for parts warehousing, sales support, and service training. The dedicated training area includes a two-story bay furnished with an upper viewing gallery plus a service pit beneath to provide trainees with close-up, hands-on instruction.

Schoenfelder admitted he was impressed. “Our Co-Chairman of the Board and I made the trip to Charlotte ourselves. ‘Wow’ was my first impression; I cannot say enough good things about the staff, the facility, the commitment, and the vision that SENNEBOGEN has set forth in Charlotte. SENNEBOGEN provided outstanding support, with product and service specialists on hand to conduct the training – well worth the time.”

Building on success
VLP’s expansion in Arkansas is a direct result of the past year’s success with SENNEBOGEN. “Having our material handling specialist on board immediately helped us to identify customers and start selling machines” said Schoenfelder. “His many years of experience and his experience in this sector were a big plus for us in our entry into the scrap industry. With the assistance of our sales staff the team is already working diligently to expand our reach in central & southern Arkansas and elsewhere, especially with forestry, port, scrap and foundry facilities.”

Through the new Little Rock branch, Arkansas customers will have access to VLP’s full range of equipment. As Schoenfelder’s team has shown throughout VLP’s other service territories, “the SENNEBOGEN product coupled with our full lines of wheel loaders, excavators, shears, and other products and support all help us achieve the full line, full support dealership concept.”
